She stands at the edge of her own reflection. Eyes closed. Turned inward. A monarch butterfly resting in her hair. It is the ancient symbol of transformation, of the self that emerges only after it has completely come apart.

In the mirror behind her, a shadow self. Dark. Vast. Undefined by feature or expression. Not a threat. Not a wound. Simply the truth of what remains when every role has been set down.

The Mirror Remembers was painted from a single inquiry: what does the mirror actually show us? Not the face we've arranged for the world. Not the daughter, the mother, the professional, the capable one. But the vastness that was always underneath - patient, unhurried, waiting to be recognised.

W carry so many versions of ourselves. Built from experience. Shaped by expecatation. Worn so long they begin to feel like skin. But they are not skin. They are costumes. And the mirror, if you look long enough, knows the difference. The shadow in the frame is not who you are afraid of becoming. It is who you already are beneath the performance.

She is beginning to remember.

This piece is for the collector who has stood in front of their own reflection and sensed something deeper looking back.
