The Witnesses #1
The Witnesses I depicts two figures moving side by side through a field of intensity. Fire-like colour surrounds them — reds, golds, and violets — yet the figures themselves remain intact, unburned, unbroken. They are not fleeing the heat nor resisting it; they pass through it.
Their forms are simplified and almost otherworldly, evoking both human presence and something beyond it — angels, archetypes, or states of awareness rather than individuals. What protects them is not armour, but witnessing. They do not collapse into the experience; they remain present within it.
The painting speaks to the capacity to move through difficulty, transformation, and emotional fire without losing oneself. Not through detachment, but through awareness. Fire here is not destructive — it is initiatory.
This work belongs to The Witnesses series, an exploration of consciousness as companion rather than combatant — the part of us that can walk through intensity and remain whole.
